Safe Haven Family Shelter continues to closely monitor developments around COVID-19 and implement procedures to ensure the health and safety of the families we serve, volunteers, and our staff. Several weeks ago, we made the decision to suspend our shelter program. Families that would normally reside in shelter are being housed through housing and hotel options to make sure our families have a place to call home. We evaluate this adjusted process weekly, and will keep you updated when we plan to reopen the shelter. As always, we are working to move families into housing as quickly as possible, and are on target to serve over 330 families this year!

There are still several ways you can provide support to Safe Haven families. Please find the list of options below:

#1 Provide a Food Box:

Purchase the following items packed into a box or milk crate and drop them off at Safe Haven on Wednesdays between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. (or by appointment). Please use the upstairs door which is located the left of the building if facing it from 3rd Avenue South. If you have any questions about the food boxes, please email Emily

#2 Sponsor a Family Moving Into Housing:

As we move more families into housing, there is an increased need for essential household items like bedding, dish sets, cleaning supplies and more. Help us welcome a family home by sponsoring a family who recently moved into their own housing. Email Emily to ask for a link to a family's Amazon list for essential household items. Purchase all of the items on the list yourself or engage your family, friends and co-workers to help.

#3 Make a Donation:

Though we have made some changes to our processes, our work to house families has not wavered. Families' needs are evolving, and providing additional rental assistance, mattresses, bedding, household supplies and food are essential needs to continue our work. Click here to make a donation.
